Exploring Art - Term 3 2026

Starts Tuesday 28th July | 6.30 pm – 8.30 pm | 8-week course

Produce your own original artwork inspired by the works of well-known artists. This course encourages you to explore themes that lead you toward developing your own style. From landscape to figures, there are no boundaries. You'll enjoy a range of subjects, mediums, and techniques.

Designed for those ready to build upon their existing art practice, refine their approach, and move towards more self-directed creative work – whether you want to deepen your skills or break new ground, you'll find both guidance and freedom here. You will have access to accomplished artist and tutor Valentine Venimore, who will help you explore art history and technique. Valentine will support you to gain new skills or refine the ones you already have; meeting you where you are and helping you grow from there.

Join like-minded creatives in a warm, friendly environment where you can create freely, with the guidance of an accomplished artist.

As a not-for-profit organisation, NGĀ ART (Te Whare Toi o Ngaaruawaahia) relies on grants, community funding, and donations to keep our classes affordable and accessible for everyone in our community. This programme is generously subsidised thanks to funding support from TEC (Tertiary Education Commission) to assist with literacy and numeracy needs of our participants. You must attend 80% of the classes. At the same time we hope you will learn other useful and interesting skills and have a lot of fun learning with us.
