How to Apply to Grants, Fellowships, and Residencies | Led by Ananda Lima
You’ve invested time in learning about your craft and the path to publication, but have you explored getting support for your writing through grants, fellowships, and residencies? In this workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of preparing strong applications that convey your commitment to your craft and illuminate your work—its importance, as well as its potential. This two-session class will include:
  • How to find opportunities for different stages of your career and projects (e.g., work-in-progress versus finished work)
  • Evaluating opportunities (including financial aspects and the potential impact on your writing career)
  • Understanding what the reviewers might be looking for
  • Writing applications and artist statements
  • Tips for staying organized and managing logistics
  • Managing emotional aspects of the application process (and maybe even finding joy in it)
  • Seeing applications as tools to better understand and describe your own work
This class is for writers at different stages of their careers (from beginners to advanced) who want to be ready to apply for support for their writing.
