This lecture will explore the life and work of David Hockney (1937-2026), English painter, printmaker, photographer, and stage designer. With a career spanning over 60 years and over 400 exhibitions, he is remembered as one of the most popular and versatile British artists of the 20th and 21st century with an impressive range of mediums from acrylic to polaroid and even the iPad. Instantly recognisable with his dapper style, bright colours and capes and bow ties, his signature bleach blond hair which transitioned into white and bold large round thick rimmed glasses. In interviews his wit, warmth and humour was always evident and his irresistible personality, especially his unflinching optimism and positivity is found in his art too.
