Intro to Street Songleading
Come learn what it takes to lead people in oral tradition singing!
These times need our singing more than ever - in the streets, in each others homes, and all the places we gather. In singing together we are instantly unified! And stronger, louder, more resourced, more powerful, and more beautiful.
How do you learn a song well enough to teach it? And how do you even teach a song to where a group could sing it together in just a few minutes? Come find out at this introductory workshop on the skills needed for leading songs in the oral tradition. No skillset is required to participate. This kind of singing is also called community singing, a lineage your workshop teacher, Megan Eberhardt, has been in for nearly a decade.
Bring: a notebook and pen, water bottle, and your willing heart.
Location: The People's Cafe @ 2943 W. Belmont Ave in Logan Square
Time: 6-8pm. Please arrive by 5:45 to get checked in and settled.
Cost: Sliding scale $50-100. Scholarships available, no one turned away for lack of funds. Please reach out if you are BIPOC or serve BIPOC communities.
This workshop will be taught by songleader, organizer, and cultural activist Megan Eberhardt who is close friends with the songleaders who started the Singing Resistance movement in Minneapolis. Megan leads a community choir called Kinship Community Choir and monthly song circles at the Old Town School of Folk Music.
