Toi Maaori Visual Arts Programme
6-Week Creative Journey with Monique

Do you have some knowledge of our beautiful kowhaiwhai patterns and motifs and have you been thinking... "I'm keen to learn more creative techniques and carry on my personal toi journey!", if so then this programme is for you!

This hands-on creative course offers thoughtfully guided sessions with Monique using unique, contemporary methods and mediums. You'll explore multiple traditional patterns and motifs, and apply them to create your very own finished visual art piece while building your skills, confidence, and connection to Toi Maaori.

As a not-for-profit organisation, NGĀ ART (Te Whare Toi o Ngaaruawaahia) relies on grants, community funding, and donations to keep our classes affordable and accessible for everyone in our community. This programme is generously subsidised thanks to funding support from TEC (Tertiary Education Commission) to assist with literacy and numeracy needs of our participants. You must attend 80% of the classes. At the same time we hope you will learn other useful and interesting skills and have a lot of fun learning with us.
