🎯 Course Description

The Advanced Live Fire Pistol course from North Idaho Firearms Training is a high-intensity program designed for experienced shooters who want to push performance under stress. This course emphasizes speed, accuracy, movement, decision-making, and accountability through structured live-fire drills.

 

This is not a beginner class. Students are expected to arrive with solid fundamentals and the ability to safely run a pistol from a holster.


 Prerequisites

  • Completion of a prior intermediate pistol course or
  • Documented law enforcement, military, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated safe firearm handling

🕒 Course Length

5-6 Hours | Live Fire Training

Round Count: ~500 rounds


📚 Safety & Orientation (30 Minutes)

  • Range safety briefing
  • Medical plan & emergency procedures
  • Instructor expectations & performance standards
  • Review of advanced fundamentals:
    • Grip pressure management
    • Visual processing (target focus vs sight confirmation)
    • Trigger control and reset at speed


🔥 Live Fire Training Blocks

 

Block 1 – Performance Baseline

  • Cold-bore accuracy evaluation
  • Draw to first shot (1–7 yards)
  • Timed accuracy drills
  • Bill drills for recoil control


Block 2 – Advanced Pistol Fundamentals

  • Shooting on the move (forward, lateral, diagonal)
  • Directional changes while engaging
  • Cadence shooting
  • One-handed shooting (dominant & support hand)


Block 3 – Reloads & Malfunctions

  • Speed vs emergency reloads
  • Reloads while moving
  • Induced malfunctions:
    • Failure to fire
    • Failure to eject
    • Double feeds
  • One-handed malfunction clearance


Block 4 – Multiple Threat Engagement

  • Efficient target transitions
  • Threat prioritization
  • Split-time control
  • 360-degree situational awareness


Block 5 – Cover & Positional Shooting

  • Use of hard vs soft cover
  • Shooting from:
    • Standing
    • Kneeling
    • Urban prone
  • Barricade work (support-side included)


Block 6 – Distance & Precision

  • 15–50 yard pistol engagements
  • Precision accountability shots
  • Balancing speed vs accuracy
  • Timed standards


Block 7 – Stress & Decision-Making

  • Elevated heart-rate shooting
  • Cognitive load drills
  • Verbal commands / no-shoot targets
  • Failure-to-stop under stress


Block 8 – Low-Light / Reduced Visibility

(If applicable)

  • Handheld flashlight techniques
  • Light discipline
  • Threat identification
  • Shooting with light activation


🧪 Final Evaluation

  • Timed qualification course
  • Movement, reloads, cover, and accuracy assessed
  • Individual performance review
  • Remedial coaching as needed


🧰 Required Equipment

  • Duty or concealed-carry pistol (9mm or larger recommended)
  • Quality strong-side holster (no SERPA-style holsters)
  • Minimum 3 magazines
  • Magazine pouches
  • Eye & ear protection
  • 500 rounds of ammunition
  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Hydration


⚠️ Safety Policy

  • Strict muzzle and trigger discipline
  • Unsafe actions result in immediate removal
  • Trauma kit and emergency plan on site
  • Zero tolerance for negligent behavior


📜 Certification

Upon successful completion, students receive a North Idaho Firearms Training – Advanced Live Fire Pistol Certificate, documenting training hours and performance standards.


REFUND POLICY 

Deposit is non-refundable, but can be transferred to another class if cancellation is 5 days or more from class day. If cancelled within 5 days of class, or no show, all monies that have been paid will be forfeit.
