4-Hour Florida Class “G” Rifle Qualification / Requalification Course
The 4-Hour Florida Class “G” Rifle Qualification / Requalification Course is designed for licensed armed security officers whose job duties require them to carry or deploy a rifle while performing regulated security duties in the State of Florida.
This course provides the required classroom instruction, safety review, practical rifle handling, and live-fire qualification using the Department-approved rifle course of fire. Students will review firearm safety rules, rifle familiarization, mechanical operation, loading and unloading procedures, basic marksmanship principles, malfunction procedures, and proper range conduct.
Upon completion of the classroom portion, students must pass a written examination with a minimum score of 70%. Students will then complete practical range exercises and demonstrate safe rifle handling and marksmanship during the live-fire qualification.
For initial rifle qualification, students should be prepared to fire up to three 30-round strings, consisting of one practice string and two qualification strings, for a total of 90 rounds.
For annual rifle requalification, once a student achieves a passing score on any qualification string, no additional strings are required, and that passing score may be used for certification.
Students must achieve a minimum proficiency score of 70% on the approved rifle course of fire. Students who do not qualify after three strings of fire will not pass the rifle qualification, and the result will be documented on the Certificate of Firearms Proficiency.
This course is intended for professional armed security officers who must demonstrate safe, responsible, and competent rifle handling in accordance with State of Florida training standards.
