Leading with Purpose Through Capability

These workshops form Phase 1 of the Leading with Purpose Through Capability Program, equipping leaders with the tools to design purposeful roles, set clear expectations, and hire for the capabilities that drive performance.

Phase 1: Turning Roles into Purpose

Session 1: Designing the Right Role

A practical workshop focused on defining roles with purpose, clarity and capability at the centre. Leaders will learn how to move beyond task-based thinking to identify role purpose, key outcomes, what success looks like, and the capabilities required for high performance. Leaders will leave with a completed Role Mapping Canvas that provides the foundation for effective recruitment, performance and development conversations.

Session 2: Right Expectations on Paper

Building on the role design work completed in Session 1, this workshop focuses on translating role clarity into a high-quality Position Description. Leaders will use their Role Mapping Canvas to develop clear role scope, outcomes, success measures, decision authorities and capability requirements. By the end of the session, leaders will have a practical, outcome-focused Position Description that can be used to set expectations, support hiring and guide performance conversations.

Session 3: Hiring for Capability

The final session in Phase 1 focuses on selecting the right person for the role through a capability-based approach to recruitment. Leaders will learn how to identify capability through evidence, develop effective interview questions, probe for meaningful responses and make more objective hiring decisions. This session brings together the role design and Position Description work from Sessions 1 and 2 to support more confident, consistent and evidence-based hiring decisions.
