KNIFE SKILLS

Hands On

A good knife, and knowing how to use it properly, can completely change the way you cook. This practical, hands-on class is designed to build confidence and efficiency in the kitchen while teaching the foundational skills every home cook should know.

You’ll be welcomed with a snack as our chef demonstrates how to slice crusty bread and shares a clever cheese-cutting technique to elevate your next grazing platter. From there, we’ll dive into the world of knives: the different styles and what each is designed for, what to look for when purchasing a knife, and how to care for them properly at home.

Our chef will also demonstrate knife sharpening techniques and explain how to maintain a sharp edge, though due to time constraints this portion of the class is demonstration only. You’ll then learn the essential cuts and techniques every home cook should master before stepping up to the bench to practice your new skills preparing a fresh crunchy slaw and a vibrant stir fry.

Knife skills take time and repetition to develop. Our goal is to make sure you’re starting with the right techniques and practicing the skills that truly make a difference in the kitchen. To finish the class, you’ll learn how to create an elegant green apple swan to accompany a cheese board dessert before sitting down together to enjoy the meal you’ve prepared.

Three beverages are included; additional drinks are available for purchase.
