Adirondack Mountain Club

Is your homeschool student curious about nature? Do they enjoy spending time outside? If so, join ADK naturalists as we learn about fabulous flora at ADK’s Heart Lake Program Center. This series of hands-on, student-focused classes will take us in search of the powerhouse plants living and enlivening the Adirondacks from shores to summits. Through games, crafts, and other activities students will learn how certain plants survive and thrive in their ecosystems and provide crucial services that enrich their environment. Throughout our time together, we'll learn to be in community with all kinds of flora and one another!

This program meets for three hours every other Monday in September, October, and November. Please note we will NOT be meeting on Monday, October 12, 2026, as it is Indigenous Peoples' Day. All five dates are included in the program fee. A multi-child discount will automatically be applied after your first student is registered. Please make sure your student is prepared to spend the whole program outside. Parents and guardians are required to stay on site during the program and are encouraged to hike with us. Tag-alongs under the age of 5 are welcome as well; however, parents and guardians are responsible for supervising them throughout the program. Tag-alongs under the age of 5 do not need a registration. Restrooms and Wi-Fi are available at the Heart Lake Program Center for the duration of the program.
