In this two-session class, we'll go over the components of a query, dive deep into comp titles, and talk about what differentiates successful queries from the pack. How do you choose the right comp titles? What are the common pitfalls? How do you distill your manuscript and convey its essence in as few words as possible? We'll look at sample queries and discuss strengths and weaknesses, do some exercises to help develop your ability to do an elevator pitch, and workshop queries at the end. By the close, you'll walk away with a more analytical perspective and tools on how to craft an effective query.
