NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Instructor Course

Become a certified NRA Pistol Instructor and learn to teach the fundamentals of safe and effective handgun use. This comprehensive 20-hour course includes the 6-hour NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) and the 14-hour NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Instructor Course. Instructor candidates develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to organize, promote, and teach the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course. Training includes instructional methods, coaching techniques, lesson presentation, practical teaching exercises, and successful completion of the NRA Instructor certification examination.

Prerequisite: Candidates must possess safe firearm handling and basic pistol shooting skills. A pre-course assessment and questionnaire are required before attending the instructor course. Candidates must also have first attended the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course. (See our course schedule)
