Have you ever wanted to try shooting a shotgun but didn't know where to start? The NSSF First Shots® Shotgun program is the perfect introduction for new shooters. Designed specifically for adults with little or no shotgun experience, this course provides a welcoming, low-pressure environment where safety, confidence, and fun are the top priorities.

Under the guidance of certified instructors, you'll learn the fundamentals of safe shotgun handling, proper shooting techniques, and range etiquette before stepping onto a beautiful outdoor sporting clays course. After a brief classroom orientation, you'll enjoy hands-on instruction as you engage clay targets with one-on-one coaching and encouragement every step of the way.

No prior experience is necessary. Whether you've never handled a firearm or simply want to become more comfortable with a shotgun, this program is designed to help you succeed at your own pace.

During this course you will learn:

• The fundamental rules of firearm safety
• Basic shotgun operation and safe handling
• Ammunition and shotgun terminology
• Proper stance, shotgun mount, and shooting fundamentals
• Sporting clays range procedures and etiquette
• Techniques for successfully breaking clay targets
• How to safely transport, load, and unload a shotgun

All participants receive individualized coaching from experienced instructors in a relaxed and encouraging learning environment.

Equipment may be available for those who do not own a shotgun. Eye and hearing protection, ammunition, and targets may be provided depending on the specific event. Please refer to the course registration page for complete details.
