Defensive Application

Course Description

Alpha Pistol Level 3 introduces defensive application principles by integrating movement, concealment, positional shooting, and decision-making. Students begin applying their handgun skills in realistic defensive contexts while learning to move, seek cover, and solve shooting problems under moderate stress.

Student Requirements

Students must:

• Successfully complete Alpha Pistol Level 2 or equivalent.
• Demonstrate safe holster skills.
• Be capable of drawing safely from concealment.

Required Equipment:

• Handgun
• Concealment holster
• Minimum three magazines
• Magazine carrier
• Eye and hearing protection
• Concealment garment
• 300 rounds of ammunition
• Knee pads recommended
• Closed-toe shoes

Course Length

1 Day ( Course will be split into Classroom, Sim Training, and Live Fire-in the range)

Concealed Carry Skills

• Draw from concealment
• Garment clearing techniques
• Presentation under time pressure

Movement

• Shooting while moving forward
• Shooting while moving laterally
• Reloading during movement

Use of Cover

• Proper use of cover
• Barricade techniques
• Cover versus concealment concepts

Positional Shooting

• Kneeling position
• Squatting position
• Supine position
• Urban prone position

Defensive Engagement Skills

• Failure drills (2-1 Drill)
• Target discrimination
• Multiple target transitions
• One-hand manipulations
• Verbal commands

Decision Making

• Problem solving under time
• Defensive decision-making
• Threat prioritization

Final Assessment

Students must demonstrate:

• Safe concealed draw
• Effective movement techniques
• Use of cover
• Multiple target engagement
• Decision-making skills under stress
