Unlike watercolour's translucent washes, gouache dries matte and fully opaque, making it a favourite for bold, graphic, poster-like paintings.

Topics Covered

• Introduction to gouache — history and character of the medium
• Colour mixing and achieving bold, saturated pigment
• Layering technique — building depth through opaque paint
• Working thin-to-thick and correcting as you go
• A simple, guided botanical or graphic composition

Who Is This Workshop For?

This workshop is for absolute beginners as well as those with prior painting experience curious about gouache. Unlike watercolour, gouache is fully opaque and forgiving of mistakes, making it an approachable entry point for anyone hesitant to pick up a brush. A great idea for a friend's afternoon out, a date or a solo creative treat.

What is included?

All materials — gouache paints, paper, brushes and Kwassie's own learning templates. Tea & coffee and light snacks are included. Aprons available on site.

You will have one completed work on paper to take home and show off :) After the worksshop, you are then welcome to join our Create & Chill sessions on Thursdays to continue developing and practicing your skills!
