A weekly performing arts class exploring the poetic works of beloved children’s author, Shel Silverstein. Challenge your student weekly in language, imagination, and performance. Each class students will analyze poetry, culminating in the opportunity to choose and perform their favorite pieces. Students will examine a number of Silverstein’s classic works, like The Giving Tree, Where The Sidewalk Ends, and Falling Up. Using these pieces, the class will work together to build reading comprehension, explore timely themes, understand poetic language, analyze artwork, and learn about creative storytelling. The class is also performance-based, with students learning public speaking, movement, and advanced performance techniques. Class culminates in a final showcase for parents during the last session!
Please note that we do not meet Nov 11 and 25.
