Compassionate Listening: An Introductory Workshop

Description

This introductory workshop is open to anyone seeking more meaningful connection, greater ease in difficult conversations, and more groundedness in daily life. Together, we will practice the art of deep listening and strengthen our ability to show up with compassion, for ourselves and for others, even in moments of challenge.

  • Time: 10:00am–4:00pm (with a 1-hour lunch break)
  • Location: Relay, 2873 All Trades Rd, Studio B, Santa Fe, NM 87507
  • Cost: Free
  • Accessibility: Relay is located on the first floor with step-free entry. Seating will be chairs, and participants are welcome to sit, stand, or settle on the floor, whatever is most comfortable. We will take a one-hour lunch break and two 10-minute breaks during the day. If you have other access needs, please let us know in the registration form and we'll do our best to accommodate.

Learning Objectives

  • Learn and practice the Five Core Practices of Compassionate Listening: cultivating compassion, developing the fair witness, respecting self and others, listening with the heart, and speaking from the heart.
  • Transform conflict into an opportunity for understanding, connection, and healing.
  • Build communication skills that deepen trust in our relationships and communities.

Participants will leave with practical tools they can use immediately. No prior experience is needed. Just bring a willingness to be present and curious.

About the facilitator

Alanna Faust grew up in Santa Fe, NM and now calls Berlin, Germany home. A facilitator and non-profit professional with a Master's in Intercultural Conflict Management, she serves as Operations Manager at The Compassionate Listening Project and brings a deep curiosity about how we relate to one another. Alanna is currently in the process of becoming a certified Compassionate Listening facilitator.
