Red Dot Weekend Day 1 (Finding the Dot)
PMO Fundamentals · Saturday
Most of us mounted an optic before anyone showed us how to run one. The dot is a visual tool, and yet most red dot instruction still teaches it as a mechanical one. Saturday is the day we fix that. This is a foundational day built to make the dot something we trust instead of something we hunt for.
We start with the presentation, because finding the dot fast is not about the eyes chasing the glass. It is about a draw that brings the pistol up to where our vision already lives, so the dot arrives where we are already looking. From there we build the verification habits that let us confirm what we need to confirm before the shot breaks, and we tie the whole thing to the target at the high center of the chest.
What we work on Saturday:
- The presentation and press-out that deliver the dot to the eye the same way every time
- Finding and confirming the dot from concealment, first shot on demand
- Trigger press mechanics that do not disturb the dot we just found
- Verification discipline: seeing what we need to see, on purpose, every rep
- Diagnosing a lost dot and recovering it without breaking the shooting problem
You leave Saturday able to draw from concealment and put the dot on target the same way, every time, and knowing why it works when it works. This is the floor everything else stands on. Come for this day alone and you will still leave a more capable shooter than you arrived. It is also the required foundation for Sunday.
