Every day, teachers make decisions about what to teach, how to teach it, and how to support the range of learners in front of them. This introductory workshop explores how the High Leverage Concepts (HLC) Resources can guide those daily decisions, helping focus instruction on the math that matters most and close gaps in student understanding. 

This cohort addresses how to use the HLC Resources to support planning for access and inclusion throughout the balanced math block. Participants will leave with practical tools for providing layered instructional support that meets the diverse needs of all learners.

This cohort is designed for classroom teachers, special educators, math coaches, math specialists, and administrators who are new to the ALN lesson structure and the HLC Resources. Over the course of six 90-minute sessions, teachers will become part of a collaborative cohort built for shared learning, honest conversation about classroom challenges, and ongoing support from peers who are navigating the same work.

Participants will:

• Learn practical strategies that are applicable across all tiers of instruction, from whole-class teaching to targeted support.
• Use the key components of the HLC Resources to plan lessons that give every student access to grade-level mathematics.
• Investigate the critical models and strategies within various HLC documents and how they serve as a "common language" providing access for all learners to engage in complex tasks. 
• Gain understanding of how to use the HLC Resources with district adopted curriculum materials to thoughtfully design student instructional experiences.
• Plan for balanced math block lessons that emphasize instructional strategies to engage all students.
