Fractions for All Learners Day 3 VIRTUAL Workshop
This three-part workshop equips educators to explore equipartitioning, equivalence, and other foundational fraction concepts in Part 1, then move into operating with fractions in Parts 2 and 3. Participants discover effective models and manipulatives and engage in problem-solving tasks that build instructional expertise and support students' conceptual understanding of fractions.
This workshop is part of our math content series, which builds strong pedagogical skills while deepening content knowledge, using the High Leverage Concepts maps and progressions as a guide. Educators learn high-impact teaching strategies that develop conceptual understanding within fractional reasoning. Participants are not required to attend all three days, but attending the full series is strongly encouraged.
Part 3: Fractional Reasoning — Multiplication and Division
Participants will:
- Investigate the magnitude of number in fraction operations
- Explore fraction multiplication and division through context and modeling using the ALN High Leverage Concept Progressions
- Make sense of multiplication and division algorithms
- Engage in problem-solving tasks and other instructional strategies that promote students’ conceptual understanding
You will receive a Zoom link the day before the event. Please contact ashleymarlow@alllearnersnetwork.com with any questions.
