About The Workshop:

Those incredible shows always seem to come down to simple tenets - Where your attention goes, your intention goes, leading to unique connections, playful gameplay, and character connections. So, it seems imperative that we pay attention to both our scene partners and the ways our characters and offers are perceived and received. Through theory, paired exercises, and scenes with sidecoaching and participant detective work, we will increase the potential of engaging in ways that make scenic overlap unique, less work for the actors. and more vibrant connection between players.

Artist Bios:

Tara DeFrancisco believes in the power of connection & collaboration of comedic work on a cellular level. Globally, she is celebrated for her hilarious and encouraging work on platforms like Instagram (260k) and TikTok (105k), with multiple viral messages shared to millions around the world.

As an improviser and comedic performer, she is primarily known as a veteran performer of 8000+ shows on multiple world-renowned stages, including iO Chicago (defrancisCo, Armando, HERE, Chaos Theory, The DelTones), Second City (TourCo, Dysfunctional Holiday Revue, understudy of Mainstage/etc), and ComedySportz (Chicago + CBus). As a comedic instructor, Tara is honored to be brought all over the world for her bohemian-yet-professional approach to scenework - leading things like sketch revue creation, duoprov, musical work, organic Harolds, stand-up clinics, and more. Most notably, her greatest love is HERE: The (Improvised) Musical – a two person improvisational show performed with Rance Rizzutto, called “Nothing Short of Genius” by NPR and rated 4 stars by the Chicago Tribune, “Critics Choice” by Sun Times, “Not to Miss” by Chicago Reader; HERE been brought as a headliner to 24 countries and 90+ cities worldwide to date.

Rance Rizzutto (2014-current) has performed, coached, and taught improv for years at iO Chicago, ComedySportz, Second City Theatricals, Baby Wants Candy, and now The Nest Theatre. He is most known from the globally touring "HERE the (Improvised) Musical". Rance is Training Center Director at The Nest Theatre in Columbus, OH, and Coordinator of TIR.iAbout FACE OFF UNLIMITED
