QA Series: Learning Objectives and Alignment

Writing learning objectives and aligning a course seems simple, yet this best practice can be tricky to meet. Having a clearly aligned course empowers students to take ownership of their learning and helps your course shine for accreditation, no matter the discipline.

Workshop learning objectives:

  • Identify what makes a measurable learning objective
  • Explain how lesson, module, and course learning objectives align
  • Appraise your current learning objectives for clarity, measurability, and alignment
  • Align assessments with lesson content and course objectives
  • Connect how aligned, measurable objectives create a more accessible course for all students, including those with undiagnosed or undisclosed disabilities

Application of the knowledge gained in this workshop will help you ensure that your courses meet Standards 2, 3, and 5 for our UA Little Rock Online Quality Assurance Standards.

During this workshop, you’ll have time to apply what you learn to one of your own courses. Bring drafted learning objectives, assessments, or weekly modules for this activity.

For our hands-on activity, please bring a course that may need clearer learning objectives and alignment.

This workshop is the first of the five Quality Assurance workshops. These can be completed in any order and those who attend all five will receive a certificate. Attendees to the live session who complete all activities will receive 10 ATLE points.

We will meet in Blackboard via Class for Zoom.
