Coutts - Orientation for Acrylic and Oil Painting Studio
While taking this Orientation Class is NOT a requirement for registration in the Acrylic and Oil Painting Studio Class, STUDENTS with little or no painting experience are encouraged to take this single 3-hour ORIENTATION CLASS for PAINTING before registering for regular painting classes.
Whether completely new to painting or perhaps just wanting a refresher, this 3-hour orientation class will offer students an overview of the Acrylic and Oil Painting Studio class. The purpose of this orientation is to familiarize students with the materials and techniques used in painting (Students should bring the required materials for the class to the orientation). The instructor will talk about the differences between acrylic and oil paints and demonstrate how to use different brushes, mediums, supports, and materials. Students will be allowed to practice some brush and painting techniques necessary to execute successful paintings.
Some technical and compositional terms will also be covered along with a basic introduction to color theory and color mixing. Students will also be encouraged to ask questions regarding painting, mediums, tools, etc., as well as any questions regarding the studio class itself.
