Visiting Artist, Amy Palatnick: Amy the Potter!
Body Self-Care and Next Level Cylinders
$375, $350 early bird
Saturday and Sunday, October 17th and 18th
10am-4pm with a one hour lunch break
Body Self-Care
The workshop begins with essential practices for sustaining a long, healthy, and joyful pottery life. Amy will guide you through practical body-care strategies that promote alignment, ease, and comfort as you work—helping you prevent strain, reduce soreness, and feel more comfortable as you work.
The Claw Pull Technique
In the afternoon, you'll learn Amy’s signature Claw Pull—the foundational first pull that can move a lot of clay and set you up for strong, even-walled cylinders. Through demonstration, guided practice, and personalized feedback, you’ll begin building the muscle memory and confidence to integrate this transformative technique into your throwing.
Sunday: Integration and Cylinder Practice
On Sunday, we will use everything we learned on Saturday to practice throwing even-walled, no-trim cylinders.
- This workshop does not include clay but students can purchase clay at our pottery supply store.
- If students are traveling to the workshop and would like to fire and have NW Ceramics ship pottery, an additional fee can be paid at the workshop for firing and shipping costs.
