World Language Initiative- MT

This class is for high-beginner students with some previous exposure to Spanish language who want to learn through a book study class. From the instructor: "Think reading a book in Spanish is out of reach? You might be surprised! In this class, we'll read a Wayside Publishing novel designed specifically for language learners, using a limited vocabulary of about 200 unique words. Each week we'll read one or two chapters, answer comprehension questions, and discuss the story, characters, and our own opinions—all in a supportive, low-pressure environment. By the end of the course, you'll have the confidence and satisfaction of finishing an entire book in Spanish while building your reading, vocabulary, and conversation skills."

Our classes are designed around the dynamic, research-based communicative language teaching approach, which allows you to learn language through exposure to and use of language in a relaxed, authentic environment. This is in contrast to more traditional models, which focus more heavily on grammar and vocabulary lists. As a student in our classes, be prepared to listen, speak, read, write, interact, and practice using the language as you build your skills and grow confidence.

• Class size is limited to 12 students.
• Classes are held in our classroom at the Emerson Center for the Arts (Suite 205).
• This class will run for 8 weeks, one class per week.
• The class will need a minimum of 7 students to run. If a class does not reach at least 7 sign-ups, the class will be canceled and you will be issued a full refund. You will be notified at least one week before the class start date.
• Your instructor will email you more details within one week of the class - this email will come from a non-WLI email.

Refund Policy: Cancelling your enrollment more than two weeks in advance of the class start date will result in a full refund minus a $25 processing fee. NO REFUNDS will be made less than two weeks before the start of class. In case of emergencies, please contact our program coordinator for our appeal document to be eligible for a discount on a future class. Makeup Class Policy: If a scheduled class must be canceled due to a coach's absence or other unforeseen circumstances, a makeup class will be provided. The makeup class will be scheduled at a time that best accommodates the majority of students, typically by adding a class at the end of the session. Please note that if you are unable to attend the makeup class, we will not be able to offer a refund for the missed class. In case of emergencies, please contact the program coordinator for our appeal document to be eligible for a discount on a future class.
