Led by local artist and educator, Bregan Ford, this workshop includes all materials and instruction necessary for each participant pair to complete two dozen (24) cotton pouches.

Decorated pouches are a wonderful, eco friendly alternative to modern day plastic Easter eggs and are much easier to store.

What is flower pounding?
Flower pounding (originating in Japan as tataki-zome meaning "hammering dye") is a natural, eco printing technique that transfers plant pigments to paper or fabric using a small hammer or mallet. Flowers and leaves are placed directly onto the pre-treated surface then hammered to release their natural pigments. Prints often result in surprising colors, patterns, and details from the plants used.

What to expect.
Participants will receive a relaxed overview of the flower pounding process, including discussion and exploration of how different plants print, before beginning their pieces. Participants will then choose from a selection of provided materials to create their designs. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring plants of their own to include, creating truly unique pieces.

What portion of my registration is donated?
25% of all full price registrations will be donated to the benefiting organization.
