Contemporary Weaving with Poto

Nau mai, haere mai. Join us for our upcoming four week weaving programme, combining contemporary materials with traditional Toi Māori patterns to create a unique woven wall hanging. You will explore the visual language of raranga and weave a piece that reflects your own whakapapa and identity.

Course Details:

• Small group learning with an experienced tutor
• All materials provided
• Create a personalised framed art piece using tradition Toi Maaori Patterns.
• Cost: $40 per person
• For participants 16 years and older

As a not-for-profit organisation, NGĀ ART (Te Whare Toi o Ngaaruawaahia) relies on grants, community funding, and donations to keep our classes affordable and accessible for everyone in our community. This programme is generously subsidised thanks to funding support from TEC (Tertiary Education Commission) to assist with literacy and numeracy needs of our participants. Available to persons 16yrs and over. You must attend 80% of the classes. At the same time we hope you will learn other useful and interesting skills and have a lot of fun learning with us.
