Beacon Rising Choir: A Choir Like No Other - 10th Season of BRC!
Beacon Rising Choir is more than a musical ensemble—it’s a powerful, joyful community of female and non-binary treble singers (C3–C6 range) united by a shared commitment to creativity, connection, and collective care.
At BRC, we believe that singing together is a radical act of joy and resistance. We welcome singers of all backgrounds—from seasoned performers to those who have never sung in a choir before. Our members range in age from 22 to 82, creating a truly intergenerational and inclusive space where all voices are valued and respected.
Perfection isn’t the goal—authenticity is. We sing not just to perform, but to build relationships, uplift one another, and inspire change. We perform a wide range of complexity in our pieces, from simple two-part songs to more intricate 5 and 6-part songs, songs in foreign languages, and songs in non-Western European traditional meters. Our repertoire spans a wide variety of musical genres, with a focus on vibrant, socially resonant works by female, LGBTQIA+, and BIPOC composers and arrangers. Every song we sing reflects our values of social and environmental justice, compassionate community, resistance, and radical self-love and healing.
Our rehearsal season runs from 7-9pm on Mondays, roughly from mid-September through mid-June. There are two semesters each season, and members may opt out for a semester without losing their spot in the ensemble. We typically perform 1-2 large concerts per semester. We also bring our voices out into the world—singing at nursing homes, community festivals, and local events whenever we’re able. Wherever we go, we bring spirit, solidarity, and song.
BRC is a commitment. Each week, we show up not just for ourselves but for this community of humans dedicated to harmony, vulnerability, growth, and connection. We ask that folks consider their ability to commit to weekly rehearsals, read the weekly rehearsal email and respond when necessary, engage in home practice, and attend concert performances before registering for the choir or joining our waitlist.
We aim to present 9-12 songs at each concert, and while we want each member to take care of themselves and stay home when they’re sick, ongoing absences not only affect your confidence with the material but also affect the rest of the choir.
If a weekly commitment is too much, we also offer a monthly Singing Circle à la BRC on the first Tuesday of each month.
Join us, support us, or come hear us sing—because BRC is where voices rise, and community grows.
Our winter concert(s) will take place on one of the following weekends: February 6/7, February 27/28, March 6/7, or March 13/14. Once the venue is secured and the date is set, we will finalize tuition and payment plan details.
