Colour Mixing & Observational Still Life with Sean Benton
Colour Mixing & Observational Still Life with Sean Benton
Saturday, August 29 | Intermediate Level
Take your painting skills to the next level in this intermediate workshop with artist Sean Benton. Designed for students with some colour-mixing experience, this class focuses on understanding how colour and value work together to create realistic form and depth.
Throughout the workshop, you will learn:
- How light and dark create form and dimension
- How to mix and modify primary colours to achieve accurate, natural-looking hues
- Colour-mixing techniques for observational painting from life
Students will put these skills into practice by painting a still life featuring an orange, an egg, and a lemon. These simple objects provide the perfect opportunity to study a wide range of colour and value shifts—from the vibrant secondary colours of the orange to the subtle neutral tones of the egg and the luminous yellows of the lemon.
Experience Level: Intermediate
Some previous colour-mixing experience is recommended.
