Using mostly hand tools and provided materials the class will make a staked leg stool consisting of three legs and a top. In making this project the students will learn or refine the following skills: using hand saws, using a brace or cordless drill to drill an angled hole, making tenons for round holes, wedging tenons, basic shaping, and basic layout. This class is suitable for beginners with the following skills: ability to use measuring tools, general shop safety awareness, ability to keep tools sharp, basic ability to operate a plane, saw, chisel, and drill.
- Introduction, options for design, layout and rough seat
- Finish roughing the seat and drill holes in seat
- Get seat to final shape, demo on end of legs
- Tenon legs
- Shape legs
- Finish parts and put stools together
