This five-hour, hands-on skills lab translates concepts from ten MedBridge performance rehabilitation courses into practical clinical application. Through applied scenarios and laboratory practice, participants will integrate movement readiness, strength, power, speed, agility, and metabolic conditioning into performance rehabilitation, with emphasis on selecting, dosing, progressing, and modifying interventions based on the athlete’s injury status, tissue-healing considerations, current capacity, and sport-specific performance demands. Participants will apply these principles to athletes whose demands emphasize linear acceleration, change of direction, jump-landing, rotational power, throwing/striking, collision/contact, repeated high-intensity efforts, and endurance movement. The lab emphasizes a performance rehabilitation model in which rehabilitation and performance are not viewed as separate, sequential phases. Instead, a performance mindset begins on day one and is integrated throughout the entire plan of care, from initial evaluation through discharge. Participants will learn to progressively restore and develop the physical qualities required for sport while working toward the broader goal of returning the athlete to a level of performance that meets or exceeds their previous capabilities.
This weekend intensive skills lab requires participants to complete MedBridge Education’s Simplifying Performance Rehab, Parts 1–10 course series prior to attending. A brief review of key concepts will be provided during the lab; however, a more thorough understanding of the underlying theoretical concepts is obtained through completion of the online course series.
