TERM 4 Drama: TEENS Years 7-12 Wednesdays: KILLARA (8 Classes)
TERM 4 has arrived! Discover the Performing Arts!
Develop creativity, confidence and collaboration through drama. Learn about acting and performance in a creative environment.
Every week, students work with a professional Teaching Artist to develop acting, collaboration and creative skills, building self-confident expression in voice and body whilst developing an understanding of the forms and traditions of theatre.
This class is for secondary students in years 7+. From exploring different theatre forms to developing skills in stagecraft, physical theatre, text and script analysis, improvisation and self-devised work, our youth are encouraged to use their creative voice and collaborate as an ensemble to discover what it means to be theatre makers.
Teens class focus is: Devising a scene for our Christmas Story, End of Year Showcase!
As well as working towards something brilliant, let’s not forget the skills they will learn together!
- Exploring drama techniques and understanding how theatrical forms, styles, and conventions shape storytelling onstage
- Applying creative thinking, analysis, and problem-solving to develop complex characters, dynamic scenes, and original work
- Building emotional intelligence by investigating characters’ psychology, motivations, relationships, and given circumstances
- Expanding versatility and spontaneity through improvisation, ensemble work, and creative risk-taking
- Strengthening collaboration skills by working effectively in ensembles, negotiating ideas, and contributing constructively to group performance
- Developing confidence and stage presence through refined communication skills, rehearsal discipline, and performance practice
- Using voice and body with technical precision and expressive range (including vocal technique, projection, physicality, spatial awareness, and movement choices)
- Engaging with acting techniques from key theatre practitioners (such as Stanislavski, Laban, Meisner, or Lecoq) to explore different approaches to performance
- Developing sophisticated script skills including text analysis, subtext, interpreting playwright intention, and making strong performance choices
