The most recent Supreme Court term was in many ways dominated by cases and issues related to President Trump’s agenda, which prevailed in a number of cases and failed in others. Nevertheless, the term saw significant cases in a host of areas including the First Amendment, voting rights, immigration, Second Amendment, and transgender rights, among other areas of decision making. And, once again, the shadow docket—emergency orders issued without full briefing—played an important role.
