ADAPTIVE MUSIC for INCLUSION (AMI)

Course Prerequisite:
Total Beginner Uke or Guitar, or Above

4 Sessions

This course is open to any GITC participant interested in learning to adapt the way you lead, share, or teach music for your students with processing, sensory, physical, medical, behavioral, emotional, and/or cognitive support needs. Taught in a seminar style, this four session course gives you a chance to develop strategies, techniques, and tools to make music accessible for your students’ specific exceptionalities. Jess will offer 2 sessions on how to set up your classroom for successful inclusion, how to teach music for emotional support, multi-modal accommodations, and how to work with adaptive tools and physical supports. Crystal will teach you the neurosequential model for adapting music to support neurodivergent learners, and for students who are impacted by trauma, anxiety, and more. She’ll teach activities and songs that assist SEL, foster creativity, and keep students calm, focused, and fully engaged.

We’ll build the seminar around the students you are teaching this fall! Instruction will be focused on making musical experiences valuable on multiple levels.

All classes in this series will be taught from 4-5 pm PT / 5-6 pm MT / 6-7 pm CT / 7-8 pm ET.
