Senior Art: Felted and Embellished Vessels
Date: Tuesdays, Sept. 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
Time: 1:00pm-3:00pm
Place: Room 18
Instructor: Cathy Marquard
Description:
Explore the creative possibilities of wool fiber in this hands-on felting workshop. Participants will learn the basics of wet felting to transform loose wool fibers into a unique, seamless hollow vessel or bowl. Using a plastic resist, students will layer and shape wool while applying moisture and friction to create a strong, sculptural textile form.
Once the vessel has been felted, participants will personalize their creations through embellishment. Buttons, feathers, yarn, beads, and other decorative materials can be incorporated to add color, texture, dimension, and individual character.
