Partner Abuse in LGBTQ+ Communities
Because of the belief that abuse doesn’t happen “among our own” partner abuse can be minimized or even denied. This workshop will give an overview of what partner abuse is and how community members can support an LGBTQ+ friend, family or community member who is experiencing abuse.
Sydney (she/her) is an Education Associate for The Network/La Red, a survivor-led social justice organization that works to end partner abuse in LGBTQ+, polyamorous, and kinky communities. As part of TNLR’s Outreach Education and Organizing team, Sydney trains providers and community members across North America about the issue of partner abuse in LGBTQ+ relationships, using this sharing of knowledge as a way to empower and uplift marginalized survivors and reaffirm that their voices and experiences matter.
