Foundation Training: Working Together to Safeguard Adults at Risk

Audience
This course is intended for new States Members.
Aim
To raise participants awareness of safeguarding adults at risk and to gain and understanding of their role and responsibilities in relation to safeguarding adults at risk.
Learning outcomes
- Define the term ‘Adult at Risk’ in relation to Adult Safeguarding and the criteria required to make a Safeguarding Enquiry
- Explain how the Safeguarding Adults procedure supports ‘Making Safeguarding Personal’
- List the five principles of Capacity as outlined in the Capacity and Self Determination Law 2016
- List the 10 categories of abuse as well as their common signs and indicators
- Identify at least five barriers that can prevent the effective safeguarding of an adult at risk
- Specify when and to whom suspected abuse should be reported
Course format: two-hour face-to-face session
