Need Repair or Need Bike (waitlist available)
everal Options (select during signup):
- My bicycle needs repair — You'll work alongside one of our volunteer mechanics and fix it together.
- I need a bicycle — We have donated bikes available. You'll work with a volunteer mechanic and get one running!
- I'll work on my bicycle myself (DIY) — Occasional DIY space is available, but Thursday DIY sessions are the main time for this.
Time:
- Please expect to be at the session for the full 3pm-5pm time.
- If you are more than 15 minutes late your appointment will be made available to others on the waitlist.
- We can help you fix your bike / get a bike, but it will often take longer than you expect.
- It may take several Sunday sessions to fully complete things.
- If you do not have enough free time, you may want to consider other options (e.g. consider a more drop off based model like at one of Durham’s Local Bike Shops).
- Out of respect for the volunteer mechanics' time please give at least 24 hours notice if your are confirmed for assistance but are unable to attend.
Clothing: We have aprons and gloves, but please wear “working-clothes” and closed toe shoes, as fixing up bikes tends to involve grease and dirt.
Masks: The DBC masking policy may be different for different shops/days. Current Sunday policy is: mask friendly / masks optional.
Membership: required to attend!
Yearly membership can be obtained for $30 or volunteering 3 hrs. If you are choosing to volunteer for your membership, you MUST complete your volunteer hours prior to utilizing the co-op’s resources. Otherwise, we will expect a $30 payment for your membership.
Emails: make sure emails from Corsizio and sunday AT durhambikecoop.org do not get filtered to SPAM.
Waitlist: Please join the waitlist. On Friday at 1 p.m., after our volunteer mechanics have confirmed their availability, you’ll receive an email with a link to the Claim a Spot event. Appointments will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you do not receive a confirmed appointment, you’ll remain on the waitlist for the following week.
