Barrier-Free proudly presents Theater Intensive & Cabaret!!! An innovative approach to our inclusive theater season for the 2026-2027 season!!

A cabaret is a performance made up of a variety of shorter acts rather than one continuous storyline. It can include songs, scenes, monologues, comedy, movement, original pieces, non-original pieces, and other forms of our favorite kinds of performances.

For our actors, the cabaret format creates even more opportunities for individual choice, creativity, and time in the spotlight. We’ll be able to develop pieces around each actor’s unique strengths, interests, personality, and performance goals while still working together to create a cohesive show.

The Theater Intensive portion of our season will give us the opportunity to dig deeper into acting and performance skills, with dedicated time for our actors to grow their craft, challenge themselves, explore new areas of theater, and build our cabaret set list.

Rehearsal Dates: Mondays September 14 - March 15 (Skip Nov. 23, Dec. 21 & 28, Jan. 18)
Rehearsal Time: 7:00 - 8:30pm, participants may arrive as early as 6:45pm

Monday, March 17, 6 - 9pm
MANDATORY Tech Rehearsal at McDaniel College Theater:
Friday, March 19, 6 - 9pm

MANDATORY Performances at McDaniel College Theater:
Saturday, March 20 @7pm, Actor Call Time 5pm
Sunday, March 21 @2pm, Actor Call Time 12pm

Program Fee Payment Options:

1) Pay in full via online card payment or check delivered to Britt/Lauren or mailed to 7520 Main St #103 Sykesville, MD 21784.
2) Pay a $75 deposit to register and reserve your spot. The remaining monthly payments may be made via online card payment or check brought to rehearsal on the first rehearsal of the month. You will not receive a reminder email each month to submit the payment.
3) Cash payments not accepted.

Barrier-Free remains committed to being affordable and accessible for all families. We invite our actors to apply to the Robert & Ernestine Rodgers Scholarship Fund to receive a partial scholarship to offset program costs.
