Leadership is often confused with authority. While a title may come with authority: leadership is earned through influence.

In higher education, some of the most influential people are not necessarily those with the biggest titles. They are the people who build trust, ask thoughtful questions, share credit and make it easier for others to succeed.

In this engaging workshop, Gail Lowney Alofsin invites participants to see leadership as a series of everyday choices. Through stories, reflection and interactive discussion, participants will explore how credibility, communication, curiosity and attitude shape YOUR impact.

You may not control every policy, priority or decision. You control how you show up, the relationships you build and the actions you take next. Leadership begins when you decide to make a difference—right where you are.

In this session, you will:

  • Explore 7 Strategies to enhance your innate leadership prowess
  • Gain an understanding of your communication and its impact– personally and professionally
  • Focus on adding more “YOU time” to your life as we explore work/life assimilation
  • Elevate YOUR personal and professional performance with an emphasis on contribution, excellence and purpose. 

A fee of $90.00 per participant will be billed to each institution, which includes parking and refreshments.

Parking will be provided on campus. We ask that participants follow specific parking instructions which will be emailed to all registered participants before the event. If you would like information on accessible parking spots, please contact us at amclean@rihetc.org

If you find you can no longer attend, we always suggest that you first try to find someone else from your institution who can attend in your place. We are able to issue refunds for cancellations made prior to 15 days from the event date. Cancellations made less than 15 days from the event date cannot be refunded and your institution will be charged for your ticket whether you attend or not. You may transfer your ticket to someone else at your institution at any time, but please let us know if you do. Contact your Human Resources Office with institution specific questions.
