Description:
Take your wheel-throwing skills to the next level in this 6-week course designed for experienced potters who can comfortably handle at least 4 pounds of clay on the wheel. Students will explore lidded jars, altered forms, larger multi-piece works, hand-built and sculptural elements, and creative surface techniques including carving, sgraffito, mishima, and slip trailing. With instructor guidance, students will create personalized projects and refine their individualized styles.
Instructor:
Brent Viste is the Gift Shop Manager at Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art. He was born in Missoula and grew up in Great Falls. As an active artist himself, Brent enjoys the frequent interactions with fellow artists and art lovers who visit the museum and gift shop. Brent shares his passion for ceramics as an instructor, teaching pottery classes and leading pottery date nights at The Square. He received a Bachelor in Studio Arts from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. While earning his degree he also worked for a local art museum and gallery and learned as much or more about art from that experience. When not at The Square, he can be found exploring the natural beauty Montana has to offer or making pottery.
