Lean-to Adopter Training: Move a Privy!
This training day is geared toward Lean-to Adopters but is also open to Trail Stewards, to learn how to relocate a privy that has become full. We will be meeting at the Upper Works trailhead at 9am and hiking 2.8 miles in to the Wallface Lean-to. The privy at the lean-to is full and also needs repair or replacement. I am still waiting to hear back from the Forester about whether we should repair it or replace it with a thunderbox. In either case we will be hiking with tools and materials, about 5.6 miles total out and back, as well as digging a new privy hole using hand tools. Be prepared for a day of physical labor!
Thank you to all who sign up. This isn't glorious work but it is important to both visitors and wildlife that we keep our wildlands and water sources clean, and that we manage human waste properly. Volunteers like you are critical to this effort! At the end of this training, you'll be ready to relocate your own privy or thunderbox!
