SU Scholar Series | Laurie McManus and Kelley Crowley

Join TTL and SU Libraries for a celebration of faculty scholarship, featuring two inspiring faculty presentations. Each speaker will present for 15-20 minutes, followed by time for Q&A. Afterwards, stay for conversation and light refreshments.

Laurie McManus, PhD
Professor of Music History, Area Coordinator of Music Literature
Conservatory Academics

Laurie will discuss her book, “Trauma, Sound, and Music in the Contemporary Horror Film” which is under contract with Routledge. Her book examines sonic strategies used to depict trauma in recent horror films.

Kelley Crowley, PhD
Associate Professor
Media & Communication

Kelley will discuss her long-form project, "The Rhetoric of Disclosure: UAP Podcasts and the Language of the Unknown." This analysis draws on Kenneth Burke’s concept of identification and explores how the rhetorical structure of UAP podcasts shape the public's engagement with Disclosure.

Now in its third year, the SU Scholar Series features short presentations by faculty on their sabbatical projects, recent publications, work completed as TTL Fellows, and other scholarly projects.

SU Scholar Series is sponsored by SU Libraries and the Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning.
