CULTURAL EDUCATION PRESENTATION
On this hands-on educational presentation, students gain knowledge about the life-ways and culture of Southern California Native Americans, focusing on the Chumash. They partake in Activity-Stations that include Acorn Processing and traditional foods, making Pigments/Paints, Stick Dice/Walnut Dice games, traditional Hunting methods of Hoop & Spear and Rabbit-stick, Pump Drill Jewelry-making, and Cultural Connections/Pastime Activities and skills. A traditional craft completes the day (weaving a bracelet from natural fibres). Through these activity stations and through ceremony, songs, stories, and demonstration/discussion, students experience an active immersion into the historical, local culture. For Ages 8-years-old and older.
IMPORTANTl Due to the program design, parental attendance required! No exceptions, sorry. (parents will manage their children thru each of the activity stations)
