Arts Experience at Loyalist

Course Overview: In this beginner-friendly basketry workshop, you will step into an age-old craft rooted in everyday life. Create your own traditional bread basket, a classic utility piece designed to serve and display while also being a beautifully handcrafted piece you will be proud to use at home.

You will be guided step by step through the basket-making process as you create your choice of a small or medium bread basket. Both baskets are approximately 5 to 6 inches wide, with the small basket measuring approximately 12 inches long and the medium basket approximately 15 inches long. As your basket takes shape, you will learn essential weaving techniques and practical skills you can use to continue exploring the craft.

A materials fee of $20 applies to the small basket or $25 to the medium basket. Please indicate which size you would like to make when registering.

• This course takes place at the Port Hope Campus: 10 Pine St S, Port Hope, ON L1A 3E7
• Campus information, including room number, parking, directions, etc., will be provided closer to the start date.
• A refund (less $20.00 administrative fee) will be issued if you withdraw from a class seven days before the start date of the class. After this deadline, no refunds will be issued.
• If a course is cancelled by Loyalist College, registered students will be provided with a full refund. College decisions to cancel a course will be made seven days before the class start date.
