Stroke: Time is Brain

Presented by Dr. Diane Pennica

Join us for an educational and eye-opening documentary, “Stroke: Time is Brain.” This powerful documentary takes you on a journey through the history of stroke treatment and the remarkable advances that have transformed stroke care. As recently as the 1990s, many doctors and researchers thought there might never be effective treatments for stroke.

Today, thanks to the heroic efforts of scientists, researchers, and doctors around the globe, stroke can be treated—but only if patients receive treatment quickly enough. That is why the phrase “Time is Brain” is so important.

Dr. Diane Pennica, who is the co-discoverer of the life-saving drug, t-PA for treating strokes, will give a brief introduction and will answer questions after the film. In addition to her many awards and honors, in 1989, she received the Inventor of the Year Award from the Intellectual Property Owners Foundation in Washington, D.C. for her work on the discovery of the gene for t-PA. In 1995, she was named to the State University of New York Alumni Honor Role for excellence in career achievements.
