The spread of AI technologies is dramatically and rapidly changing the way we teach and learn. How are instructors adapting their assessments now that AI tools are widely available to students? This workshop shares a menu of familiar, low-tech options — in-class writing, whiteboard work, short oral check-ins, and more — along with what each involves in preparation, class time, and grading, and considerations of accessibility and equity for each. We'll also share what current research and other campuses' experiences suggest. In the working portion of the session, faculty redesign one of their own assignments to incorporate a new assessment practice that fits their course.
We recommend identifying an assignment you'd like to work on ahead of time and bringing its relevant materials (prompt, rubric, syllabus language) to the session.
Open to all CU Denver faculty and staff. This workshop is also offered in person on October 27.
