This elective covers fair housing and professional ethics the way they actually show up in your deals, not as a lecture you sit through and forget. One class satisfies your 4-hour NC elective credit and also meets two of NAR's mandatory training requirements for the cycle ending 12/31/2027: Code of Ethics training and Fair Housing training.

Part one traces the structural barriers to housing equality (racial zoning, restrictive covenants, redlining, urban renewal), walks through federal, state, and local fair housing law, and gets into how fair housing shows up in daily practice: unintentional violations, steering, marketing, and emerging issues like pocket listings, buyer love letters, and appraisal bias.

Part two puts the Code of Ethics to work in plain language, covering why the Code exists, how it's structured and enforced, and real case scenarios built around Articles 2, 3, 10, 12, and 15: honesty in disclosure, cooperation, equal professional service, and truth in advertising.

Taught with interactive games, small-group breakouts, and real case studies, same live energy as every Level Up Learning class.

Learning Objectives

• Trace the structural and historical roots of housing inequality and how they still influence practice today
• Apply federal, state, and North Carolina fair housing law, including protected classes and disability protections, to everyday transactions
• Recognize unintentional fair housing violations, including steering and marketing pitfalls, and emerging issues like pocket listings and appraisal bias
• Explain the purpose, structure, and enforcement of the NAR Code of Ethics
• Apply Articles 2, 3, 10, 12, and 15 of the Code of Ethics to real case scenarios
