Over the past two years, providing advocacy, service and support for people surviving intimate partner violence (IPV) and domestic violence (DV) has been challenging, in ways unlike ever before – especially for advocates who also identify as survivors themselves.
In this peer support group, you are invited to virtually share space with other DV advocates who are survivors. There will be opportunities to discuss some of the complex challenges that come up professionally and personally for advocates who are survivors, reflect on practices to support you in your role in your organization and offer resources, tools and practical ideas to best practice self-care.
About the facilitator: denim {d} chang (he/they) is a politicized somatics trauma resolution practitioner and educator. In his work, he bridges nervous system intelligence, the ancestral wisdom of his taoist lineage, and his personal practice of spiritual embodiment to support our healing work in feeling more vulnerability, intimacy and belonging. His work centers the body as the ground for our liberation, and the embodiment of pleasure as our resistance. Most often, his work with clients is focused on intergenerational healing that includes sexuality, attachment, and personal sovereignty. denim created somatics for the people, an emerging school for liberatory embodiment and trauma resolution skills focusing on the QTBIPOC experience. He is a transmasculine Malaysian Chinese immigrant and survivor currently studying acupuncture and based in Chicago. You can learn more about denim at https://d-chang.com.
This group will meet virtually on the third Wednesday of every month at 11 am CT. Additional dates will be scheduled according to group needs.
