STEM East: Strategic Planning Initiative
The STEM East Strategic Planning Initiative gives districts an opportunity to step back from the day-to-day demands of school operations and take a strategic look at how STEM education can better support student success, workforce development, and the future of their communities.
Through SPI, STEM East will work alongside each participating district team to:
- Identify strategic priorities and opportunities for strengthening STEM education;
- Build on existing district and community strengths;
- Engage regional business and industry partners;
- Align STEM programs and resources with emerging workforce needs; and
- Develop a clear, practical, and actionable roadmap tailored to the district’s unique needs.
SPI is not a one-size-fits-all initiative. It is a customized opportunity for district teams to develop a strategic plan that builds on what is already working, addresses areas of need, expands opportunities for students, and helps position the district and community for the future.
We are requesting the following information to the extent it is available:
- District Strategic Plans;
- STEM Plans;
- School improvement plans;
- Documentation for any SSoD processes that have been completed, whether or not the school earned the distinction;
- Documentation for any SSoD processes that are currently in progress; and
- A rough estimate of district budgets, staffing allocations, headcount for STEM-focused staff, and the percentage of FTE that CAOs or other staff dedicate to related work and support.
We want to ensure these materials are readily available to the appropriate members of your team during our working sessions so that we can support your team fully throughout our strategy work together. Any information shared will be kept confidential. Please upload available materials, or a list of items that are not currently available, in the folder with your district’s name by the end of the day on Friday, September 18.
